Pedigree Dogs Exposed!
Pedigree Dogs – Exposed!... The Australian response
Australian television viewers had to wait 18 months but when the controversial BBC documentary ‘Pedigree Dogs Exposed’ finally aired in September 2009 - there was an immediate outcry.
It came from the next generation of Australian veterinarians. Students from the University of Sydney Veterinary Science School.
They called for an open forum to discuss the validity of the claims made in the documentary; to assess the current status of pure-bred dogs in Australia and to determine how to best ensure pure-bred dogs’ health and welfare in the future.
Students from the Veterinary Science for Animal Welfare Society invited dog breeders, welfare experts, geneticists and fellow veterinary students to participate in the public forum.
A panel of 'expert' speakers was given the opportunity to answer questions about pedigree dog breeding, its pros and cons, beauty and beastliness!
The evening was recorded by EssentialPET... (aka Pet Talk Radio!) as a community service for all pet lovers and has been cut into segments for ease of downloading.

We'd love your thoughts on the original documentary and on original speakers here
